Isabel Marant, Los Angeles
For its first address on the West Coast of the United States, Isabel Marant has entrusted Franklin Azzi with the design of its West Hollywood boutique. Taking the opposite tack to the urban sprawl of Los Angeles, the project offers visitors an oasis of greenery, intimate and confidential, a place set apart from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Through a series of nods to Californian aesthetics, Franklin Azzi anchors the space in a local imagination, that of the ‘case study houses’ of the 50s, with minimal architecture opening onto the garden, in this case a ‘desert garden’ in the colours of cacti, perennials and succulents. Inside, the boutique is flanked by two made-to-measure dressing rooms, whose floor-to-ceiling pattern gives a library-like rhythm to the space.
