The complex located rue du Temple is composed of two interconnected buildings. The first two buildings were built in 1922 by the architect François Le Coeur, then architect of the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs. The last building was completed in 1939 in order to connect the buildings of the surrounding plots, also belonging to the telephone exchange. Consequently, the building is encumbered by easements, including the passage of telecommunication cables. The conservation of these spaces is certainly intimately linked to the design of François Le Coeur and his structural choices which allow a great flexibility of the interior spaces. The M telephone exchange rue du Temple initiates the architect's post-war style. This site is partially registered as a Historic Monument for its unique façade and its terrace on rue du Temple.
The aims for this project are multiple: to use the remarkable character of the facade, to take advantage of the morphological pathologies of the building and the height of the ceilings by creating mezzanines and entresol, to add services and maximize the user's well-being, and to enhance the uses of the exterior spaces. The rehabilitated building will host Ledger's headquarters.
