PORT BOINOT, NIORT

The Port Boinot site was an important center of activity and employment during the period of full activity. Closely related to the development of the city and its dynamism, it is an important element of the collective memory.

However, it has always remained dissociated from the city center, both by its destination, its insularity and the form of East-West break that constitutes the Main bridge. The goal today is to reinvigorate its dynamism and attractiveness, through a reconquest of contemporary vocabulary.

Port Boinot can play a key role in development, in synergy with existing offers in the city center, focusing in particular on tourism, the natural heritage of Sèvre and the link with the Marais. Thus, this atypical islet, can become a new pole of activity, inscribed in a city center widened, extended by the new soft links as by the new offered uses.

The project raises issues of great importance for the city that we particularly want to highlight. Niort finds a port: a new relationship to water, active at the same time symbol of openness, link and travel but also founding act of reconnection to its territory.
