For the official program of Paris Design Week, MARBRÉE exhibition presents exclusive creations of decorators, designers and architects. Along 13 others designers, decorators and architects, Franklin Azzi was invited to present an unique marble piece : "Feather Light" lamp.
FEATHER LIGHT
Feather Light lamp is made of an unused and available material: marble offcuts piled up though time in the sample’s library of Franklin Azzi agency.
The « Feather Light » lamp takes over the « ready-made » concept as it is composed with pieces of marble coming from different parts of the East Village in New York, in the electricians’ district. Materials are raw and unfinished. Marble slabs superposition allows to assure the adequate balance to support the lamp’s arm twinge. The various options of articulation allow users to adapt it to their workspace.
Veined, spotted, speckled, lined: the geographic diversity of the marbles creates an original composition, declined here in different shades of green.
The rotation of the different pieces of marble around the axle allows to change the aesthetic of the lamp. The project is both minimal and radical. Marble is not only beautiful, but it becomes functional and structural.
